UNIVERSITY OF NOVA GORICA, SLOVENIA

University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia

Develop your talents – begin your quest for knowledge here.

At the Slovenian-Italian border, between the Adriatic Sea and the Alpine world, lies the University of Nova Gorica. With its 400–450 students it may be relatively small in size, but throughout its 25-year-long history it has been demonstrating its greatness through many an achievement on a global level. Its research excellence has been noted worldwide, and together with its strong international orientation, high-quality study programmes merging theory and research with practice, and the special devotion of its teaching staff to the students, it has been drawing an increasing number of students to the university. What the students particularly love about studying with us are our individual approach and working in small study groups. In our lecture rooms, the students are not simply addressed by any generic and impersonal titles such as »colleague/kolega«, which is so common in the Slavic academic environments, but rather by personal names, as the professors know all of their students. They actually know them so well that they can advise them and suggest every student the activities or projects which would help them develop their talents to the fullest.

The excellent opportunity in engaging in projects and research work is actually one of our greatest advantages, and so is the practical orientation of our study programmes. Practical placements, working on common projects and other joint activities with business partners or other cooperating organisations in Slovenia or abroad give the students not only valuable experience but also useful contacts for their future professional careers and also new employment opportunities. We take special care of particular groups of students with specific needs – above all, we are a sports-friendly university offering tailored modes of study to students athletes. Moreover, the University of Nova Gorica is also one of the registered European Talent Points, fostering continous devotion to highly motivated students.

As an internationally oriented university with the share of our international students exceeding 50 %, we are fully aware of the importance of international experience that the students need on a globalised job market, and therefore we encourage our students to take part in international mobilities or continue their studies at an international joint programme or a double-degree study programme with a renowned university abroad.

Studying at the University of Nova Gorica means studying in a lively international atmoshpere, in a safe and welcoming study environment of the warm and beautiful sub-Mediterranean Goriška Region, where you will soon feel at home.

Last but not least, you will be able to enjoy all the benefits of the student status in Slovenia, such as subsidised student meals and transport, student job opportunitnies, other student discounts, scholarship opportunities or even tuition-free studies if you come from one EU countries or any other country holding an agreement with Slovenia on the exemption of paying tuition fees.
